Dive in and meet our three zebra sharks, Peanut, Butter, and Honey! π¦π¦ These graceful creatures, with their distinct spots, are as fascinating as they are beautiful. Watch as they glide through their underwater home in the Outer Reef habitat. πͺΈ The Tropical Reef Aquarium reopens June 14. π
The 2024 City Nature Challenge results are in, and they are impressive! The Seattle-Tacoma area broke our region`s records for the number of participants, observations, and species identified, with observations up 63% from last year. Itβs exciting to set a new record year after year and to see our community discover and appreciate native wildlife. This data will contribute to research projects and help real scientists better understand how to protect our regional wildlife. Photos from iNaturalist
It turns out humans arenβt the only ones with allergies. Zoo animalsβeven goatsβget them! Meet Spice, our 7-year-old Nigerian dwarf goat, who`s feeling the itch, too. π While humans and furry friends can find relief with meds, our animals need something extra. For the first time ever, we`re using allergen immunotherapy to help Spice, our polar bear Astra, and beavers Nutmeg and Walnut build tolerance and beat the sneeze! Spice receives allergy injections every two weeks to treat her symptoms.

Rocket is estimated to be five years old, and we couldnβt be happier to have him in our family. If you have seen our current show at the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater, you know Rocket as βProfessor Dumbledogβ and the star of the show. βοΈ
A day in the life of Rocket means plenty of walks, training sessions, a game of fetch before the Zoo opens, and a personal chaise lounge where he can rest. We π«Ά you, Rocket! #nationalrescuedogday

Walruses are social animals and are known for their unique and loud vocalizations. π΅ This is a voiceover from Shrek but we wanted to have some fun with it. π
The caps on the walrus tusks are to help protect them as they grow - similar to a night guard for human teeth!
